1. Nimbus Capture
First off is Nimbus Capture – This is a screenshot and screen recording extension for Google Chrome.
I like this tool because you can record videos on your screen for up to 5minutes for free. This is useful if you want to record video tutorials, online games, or apps and upload them to YouTube.
I actually use this in addition to my main screen recorder, to record clips for my video editing tutorials but you can use it to share videos with your friends, colleagues, or clients. The free version is good for short videos but you can get more features including unlimited recording with one of the premium plans. You can also do full-page screenshots and annotations with the premium plans.
2. Screely
Now if you’ve taken some nice website screenshots you can show them off with another useful tool called Screely. This is a super simple site that lets you generate Website Mockups. Simply drag in your website screenshot and it will create a browser mockup.
You can change the window type here for a different look or adjust the background colours.
You can also change the padding or completely get rid of the background. Then just download it.
This is useful if you have a website or an app that you want to show off and promote on social media.
3. Namecheckr
If you don’t have a website or online business but you are thinking of starting one you’ll first need a name. This is where Namecheckr.com comes in handy.
This website lets search for brand names and tells you whether they are available on lots of different social media sites. It also checks to see if the dot com is available. Insanely useful to know before starting a brand. If your potential domain names are constantly unavailable then you should find the next website useful.
4. LeanDomainSearch.com
LeanDomainSearch.com allows you to search for alternatives to your potential domain name. just type in your name and it will come up with variations that are available by adding words to the beginning or end. You can sort by popularity, length, or alphabetical. Or you can filter with your search term at the beginning or end.
5. Unsplash – High-Quality Stock Photos
Now if you already have a website and you need to add some photos to it to make it look more professional then check out Unsplash.com
This is probably one of the best and most well-known FREE stock image websites.
Unsplash offers high-quality photos that you can download and use for free for commercial and non-commercial purposes. No attribution is required. This is pretty much the go-to website for any stock photos for business use.
I’ve used photos from this site on numerous websites and marketing materials. They are constantly adding new photos so the collection just keeps getting bigger and bigger giving you more choices. This is an easy bookmark for me.
6. Photopea – Free Online Photoshop Alternative
If you need to edit or manipulate any photos then check out Photopea.com. It’s a free online photoshop alternative. This is great because it works on any browser, so no need to download any software.
Photopea lets you edit photos, apply effects, and filters, add text, and crop or resize pictures. So you can take photos from Unsplash and edit them here.
If you’re familiar with photoshop you’ll pick this up fairly quickly. Otherwise there are plenty of online tutorials out there to learn the software. This is great if you want to get started in graphic design learning how the layers works, different selection tools, and the clone stamp tool.
7. Pexels – Stock Videos and Photos
If you need stock videos then check out Pexels.com. like Unsplash they offer free stock photos but they also have a huge selection of videos.
Again all photos and videos on Pexels are free to use for commercial and non-commercial use and no attribution is required.
This is useful if you want to use these videos to promote your product, use on your website, add them as b-roll in youtube videos or share videos on social media.
You can download videos in HD with no login required. However, if you do create an account you can save collections or follow your favourite creators. You can also upload your own pictures if you wish.
8. Pixababy – Copyright Free Images, Videos and Music
Another site I use in conjunction with Pexels is Pixabay. As well as offering high-quality images and videos for free, Pixabay also offers illustrations, vector art, music, and sound effects.
I have this bookmarked along with Pexels and Unsplash and these 3 sites are my go-to for copyright-free media.
9. Icons8.com – Transparent PNGS
https://icons8.com/photos/transparent
But Seb, I want transparent PNGs for my banners and social media posts. Well, I got you covered with that as well. Check out icons8.com. If you click on Photos and Transparent PNG you will find a wide selection of images with a transparent background.
You can use these images for free but you need to link to Icons8. Full details can be found on the license page. They also have paid plans where you can download higher resolution images and don’t you have to add link. Something to consider if you are working on larger projects.
10. Canva – Free Graphic Design Tool
If you follow this channel you’ve probably heard of Canva and know that I’m a huge fan. Canva is a free-to-use online graphic design tool. You can use it to create social media posts, banners, logos, posters, presentations and even edit videos with it. There are 1000s of pre-made templates so you can get inspiration and create content quickly. I mainly use Canva to make social media posts and YouTube thumbnails.
Check out my Canva playlist for a tonne of tutorials on how to use and get the most out of Canva.
11. Invideo – Online Video Editor
If you want to make quick videos then check out Invideo.io. It’s an online video editor. No need to download any software. It works all in the browser. You can make video ads, youtube intros, listicles, presentations, logo reveals and more. It has over 5000 video templates that you can customise to make your own videos quickly and easily.
It has a free plan that comes with a watermark then paid plans with no watermark and access to premium templates and premium stock media.
I did a tutorial on this if you want to learn more about how to use it.
12. Notion – Online Note-Taking App
Another useful app worth checking out is Notion. It’s an online note-taking app. This is useful for content creators because you can plan your content, store information, links and ideas.
I use the content planner template to store all my video ideas, write my scripts, track videos in progress and also store all my affiliate links and future business ideas.
Templates > Marketing > Content Calendar
13. WeTransfer – Send Files Online
WeTransfer.com allows you to send files up to 2GB to anyone with an email address for free.
It’s super simple to use. You just upload your file, enter the email of the recipient and click transfer.
This is useful if you need to send video files to people. For example YouTubers might send video files to an editor in another country. They can then send the finished video back.
14. Audacity – Free Audio Software
If you need to record audios for YouTube videos or podcasts then its worth checking out Audacity.
Audacity is a free multi-track audio editor that you can use on Mac, Windows and other operating systems.
I use audacity for my YouTube videos to remove background noise and do some audio leveling before putting it into my video editor.
BONUS: Buymeacoffee
Lastly, I want to share one useful tool for content creators to make money.
The site is called buymeacoffee.com and as the name suggests it’s a way for your audience to buy you a coffee in the form of donations to support your work.
You can also create memberships and share exclusive content or sell digital products or services. This is something I’m currently trying out so if you find my content useful feel free to buy me a coffee and support the channel.
