I Built an AI Content Dashboard That Finds Video Ideas (YouTube, X and TikTok)

My AI content dashboard pulls the latest posts from YouTube, X and TikTok, scores outlier videos and gives me five video ideas in my own style. Built with Grok bot, no developer needed.

  • ai tools
  • content creation
  • youtube
  • grok bot
  • workflows

Pressing play loads the video from YouTube, which may store data on your device.

Keeping up with AI news is a full-time job. New tools, new models and new features drop every single day, and the more you scroll to keep up, the less time you have to actually make anything.

So I stopped scrolling and built a content dashboard that does the scrolling for me. One board pulls in the latest posts from YouTube, X and TikTok. I scan it every morning, and it does two jobs: it keeps me up to date with AI, and it hands me video ideas.

Here’s how each part works, and how you can copy it for your own niche. You don’t need to be a developer.

YouTube: video ideas from AI creators

The YouTube section shows around 50 video ideas pulled from a group of AI creators I follow. These people are fast. When something new drops, they’re usually talking about it within hours, so a quick scan shows me what everyone’s covering.

Each video shows its views, and something more useful: the outlier score.

The outlier score explained

Outlier score = a video’s views ÷ the channel’s median views across its last 12 videos

The median is the middle number, so one viral hit doesn’t skew it.

  • 1x is a normal video for that creator.
  • 6x means it’s doing six times their usual numbers.

That matters because it shows which topic is hot right now, whatever the size of the channel. A small creator with a 6x video is a stronger signal than a big creator having a normal day.

When the score gets shaky

A few things to watch out for:

  • Fresh uploads usually score under 1x, because they haven’t had time to build views yet.
  • Channels with only a few videos give less reliable scores.
  • Shorts compared against a channel’s long-form average throw the numbers off.

You can filter the board by views, channel or outlier score.

Five new angles and titles for any video

Spotting a good idea is only half the job, and copying someone else’s video isn’t the goal. This is my favourite part: click any video and the board gives you five alternative angles and titles, written in my style and tone of voice. I’m not copying anyone. I’m finding my own way into the topic.

One click into Notion

If I like an idea, I click Add to Notion and it drops straight into my video ideas board in Notion. That’s where I write the script and plan how to repurpose it for other platforms. Going from spotting a trend to an idea ready to script takes a couple of clicks.

Choosing the creators it tracks

In the settings you can add or remove creators, and the board pulls in their latest videos automatically. Mine are all brilliant AI creators. Honestly, follow them, not me. To recreate the board for your niche, swap them out for creators in your space.

Under the hood: yt-dlp

The board uses a free, open-source tool called yt-dlp to grab the video details. Open source means the code is public and free to use.

I built the whole thing with Grok bot, but you can build it with Claude or Codex just as easily.

X: where AI news breaks first

YouTube is slow compared to where AI news actually breaks first, and that’s X.

Under the YouTube list are my X research ideas: popular posts from X that I can filter by views, likes, reposts and bookmarks. The title on each one is a suggested video title generated from the post, and clicking it opens the original post. One I had on the board had 13.2 million views: Claude announcing a new integration with Google Workspace. Again, one click and it’s in Notion.

The X Researcher bot

The problem with X is that it gets noisy. Half of what goes viral is out of date by lunchtime. So I set up a second bot, the X Researcher:

  • Every morning, it scans an X list I’ve built just for AI news and picks out posts that could make good videos.
  • Every weekday at about 9:55am, it rechecks each of those posts live on X, so the likes, views and bookmarks are real numbers from that morning.
  • Anything under 10 likes gets dropped.
  • Anything no longer relevant gets parked, like a deal that expired that day.

Each main post gets a one-line angle, five title ideas in my style, and fact-checked notes. The notes flag things like paid-only features, whether something works in the UK, and claims I need to double-check before saying them on camera. Smaller posts get attached as supporting evidence, and only the strongest make it onto the dashboard. The day I recorded, that was 13 posts picked from 37.

Add your own sources with an X list

The researcher watches whatever is on the list, so to change your sources, just add more profiles to it. Setting up a list takes about a minute:

  1. Open any post on X.
  2. Click the three dots.
  3. Click Add/remove from Lists.
  4. Create a new list, or add to an existing one.
  5. Make the list public, otherwise the bot can’t see it.
  6. Ask Grok bot to monitor the list for the latest posts.

TikTok

Last one is TikTok: a list of TikTok creators I follow, with their latest posts. It runs on the same tool, yt-dlp, which works with TikTok too despite the name.

There’s no login and no API keys. An API key is basically a password that lets apps talk to each other, and you don’t need one here. The trade-off is that it only sees public posts.

You can update the creator list in the settings and filter by views or dates. This section gives me short-form video ideas, and because short videos are quicker to make than YouTube videos, they often have the latest news.

The full board

Platform What it shows me
YouTube What’s working
X What’s breaking
TikTok What’s catching on with short-form audiences

Five minutes in the morning and I know what’s happening in AI and what I’m making next. No more doom scrolling.

Build your own

I’ve put the full prompt and setup instructions in my Build With Seb community. Copy it, paste it into Claude Code, Codex or Grok bot, and swap in your own creators.

The dashboard is one part of a bigger system. In how I built an AI content team, I show how it connects to my Notion hub and a team of AI bots.

FAQ

What is an outlier score?

It’s a video’s views divided by the median views of that channel’s last 12 videos. A 1x video is normal for that creator. A 6x video is doing six times their usual numbers, which is a sign the topic is hot right now.

Do I need API keys to pull YouTube and TikTok data?

No. The dashboard uses yt-dlp, a free open-source tool, with no login and no API keys. The trade-off is that it only sees public posts.

Do I need to know how to code to build this?

No. I built it by prompting Grok bot, and you can do the same with Claude Code or Codex.

Won’t this just make me copy other creators?

That’s what the five angles are for. The board points you at topics that are working, then gives you your own takes on them, in your own style.
